History
What we Achieved
The Selebi Phikwe National Marathon, formerly known as the Bosele Marathon, has been a proud tradition in Selebi-Phikwe since 1985. Founded by the late Boet Kahts (MHSRIP) and Phill Roberts, the event began as a small community fun run. Over the years, it has grown into one of Botswana’s recognized running events, bringing together athletes, fitness enthusiasts, and communities to celebrate endurance, health, and unity.

Our mission is to deliver an annual marathon of international standard while strengthening community ownership of the event in Selebi-Phikwe.
We aim to create an inclusive sporting platform that encourages participation, promotes healthy lifestyles, and showcases Selebi-Phikwe as a vibrant destination for athletics and community celebration.

Our vision is to establish the Selebi-Phikwe National Marathon as a world-class marathon event by 2029, attracting runners from across Botswana, the region, and beyond while positioning Selebi-Phikwe as a premier destination for athletics and sporting excellence.

Volunteers
The marathon is a community activity. It should bring the town together. Volunteering is one of the ways that will be used to engage the community to participate in the marathon.
Marathon Village Stalls
Stalls will be allocated to small businesses and other sponsors of the marathon. Stalls will be sold at rates affordable to the SMMEs conforming to the standards of the LOC and the main sponsor.
Cheerleading Teams
Various schools and youth centers will be requested to provide cheerleading squads which will be placed in different areas along the route.
